Who is it designed for?
The Group Exercise Leadership Specialty Certification is designed for instructors currently teaching modality-specific or pre-choreographed classes or personal trainers who are exploring a new direction in group fitness. The curriculum complements the foundational education teachers receive in 1- or 2-day instructor training programs like Zumba® fitness, Les Mills, Turbokick® or indoor cycling.
How do I earn one?
Our team of experts developed specialty certifications based on public demand and the knowledge they believed a well-rounded specialist should possess. Requirements for each specialty certification include a blend of courses created by ACE and those developed by our educational partners.
Participants of the ACE specialty certification have two curriculum options: a live ACE workshop in select cities worldwide or a Web-based video course led by award-winning group fitness instructor Lawrence Biscontini. Both options include an online assessment participants may complete at their own convenience.
Once you complete the final online assessment, you will automatically be updated in our system as an ACE specialist and a specialty certification will be uploaded into your My ACE account. Our specialty certifications do not expire. Purchase price includes all materials and the specialty certification itself.
For health and fitness professionals, a Group Exercise Leadership Specialty Certification is equivalent to 0.8 ACE CECs (8.0 ACSM) or 8 hours of professional education.
Participants will learn teaching techniques, strategies for improved safety and other essential instructional skills to enrich group classes in a live 1-day course. Explore how to safely transition clients back to a total-body program, and how to avoid further injury during phases of tissue healing.
