This original CE program reviews and discusses recently published research documenting and explaining differences in fat metabolism, body composition, and physiology between genders. In depth topics explore body fat storage and distribution in the body, body type and cardiovascular risk, body fat risk assessment to disease, fat mobilization and utilization, and hormone and enzyme function in fat metabolism. Gender differences in fat metabolism are discussed at resting and during exercise conditions. In addition, an explanation of the physiological mechanisms involved with substrate fuel utilization during exercise are presented. Practical applications of exercise for the most favorable fat metabolism are fully discussed including 'what exercise intensity burns the greatest amount of fat.' You’ll discover some very novel approaches to designing optimal exercise programs for fat and weight loss in this course. Authored by: Len Kravitz, PhD, and Chantal Vella, PhD
