The goal of this workshop is to improve PFT’s understanding of functional movement using FMS and kettlebells. The course will start with a FMS of all the participants followed by a discussion of strategies to improve the targeted weaknesses. Recommendations on which exercises to avoid based on deficiencies will also be presented. Kettlebell lifts will be taught and practiced to have all participants be able to perform the kettlebell swing, goblet squat, clean/press and Turkish get-up. Breakout groups will be provided for those found to have deficiencies for specific exercises. Safety will be emphasized so that the participants will be able to both safely perform the lifts as well as evaluate the safety of others performing the lifts. Finally, participants will be guided through several workout options, using the strategies presented to improve functional movement quality while minimizing the risk of injury, and then participants will design and demonstrate a kettlebell workout based on a specific deficiency.
