The Reward Center: What It Is and How to Manage It

This course is designed to inform health and fitness professionals about the reward center of the brain and how human compulsion to stimulate it has contributed to the health problems facing our country today. More importantly, once the reward center is understood, this course will instruct participants how to overcome reward center eating so that they may better assist their clients in attaining lifelong health and wellness. When the reward center is stimulated, it releases beta-endorphins, dopamine and serotonin. The major food trigger for the reward center is sugar, but it is further stimulated when combined with fat and salt. Individuals looking to improve their health must retrain themselves to avoid and resist reward center “triggers.”
