Functional Anatomy, Exercise Programming and Nutrition

At the end of this session, the professional will be able to safely and effectively apply the current exercise recommendations from the American Heart Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Council on Exercise to create fitness plans for clients and specifically for the fire service. Understand functional anatomy and basic medical terminology. Understand current recommendations for special populations and understand and apply basic knowledge for exercise programming. The fitness professional will also be able to describe the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and gain competency in the area of general nutrition information and resources. Gain knowledge in general sports nutrition and utilize scientific-evidence and research to determine safety and efficacy of dietary supplements and ergogenic aids. Gain knowledge and understanding in current FAD diets and popular weight loss options.
