Leading an aquatic exercise class is different from land exercise in movement tempo, physical laws of the water environment, class components and equipment usage as well as the needs of the participants. This session will prepare instructors to accommodate the principles of the water and to utilize the water for the participants’ benefit. Instructors must modify cuing and instructional techniques to lead an effective workout in this atmosphere. Modifications and movement options will be given to create safe exercises for the population that enjoys water exercise. Leading group fitness classes in the water can give a certified instructor new directions and options for their fitness career.
