Balance and Postural Control: Implications for Fitness Professionals

The faculty will present an in depth course designed to update participants on current information concerning disorders of the vestibular and postural control systems. The goal of this seminar is to provide participants with information and tools to develop and implement fitness programs that include activities to improve and maintain postural control and dynamic balance; and identify individuals that may benefit from referral to a healthcare professional for further examination of a balance disorder. Diagnostics, specific protocols, progressions, and evidence based assessment techniques will be presented and demonstrated. This course utilizes power point lectures and demonstrations to educate the participant on the postural control system and common disorders that impair balance. Common disorders of the vestibular system will be discussed and presented through lecture, case studies and clinical video presentations.
