Nurture the spirit as you build strength and flexibility!
Practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi and Reiki offer the participant a way to understand the way their body moves while aligning their mind and spirit with those movements. The explosion of interest from all demographics in these practices shows a trend toward a goal of becoming "mindful" people.
DoxaSoma is a Christian practice which follows this trend offering a new approach to stress relief, focus and fitness. Participants incorporate movement, directed breathing, prayer and reflections on Scripture to help bring awareness to the present moment to find balance, alleviate tension and promote overall health and integrity.
This 15 hour workshop covers the basics of DoxaSoma, and will help the participants be able to safely demonstrate and teach the fundamental positions, identify and teach the emotional or spiritual focuses for the positions as they are experienced in a group exercise or personal practice setting.
Participants will be able to draw the connections between the physical aspects of the positions and the emotional or spiritual aspects, articulating the benefits of integrating deep stretching with the relaxation and breathing offered by a mind/body practice and will be able to design and program their own DoxaSoma classes to meet the particular needs of their class members or to enhance mind/body classes they already teach giving them a new focus.
