July 2013: Healthy Hips

The hips are the biomechanical center of the body and a key competency area for group fitness instructors. “Healthy Hips” explains the structure and function of the hips in order to improve coaching of hip exercises. This course draws a connection between the musculoskeletal anatomy of the hips and the performance of total-body movements. The video presenters demonstrate training exercises for hip strength and mobility, including application in group fitness classes and common errors in execution of hip movements. Coaching tips will give instructors practical skills to help participants maintain healthy hips.
