Metabolic Conditioning for Indoor Cycling

The role of the body’s metabolism is to convert nutrients to energy in order to fuel muscle activity. The human body can produce adenosine tri-phosphate, (ATP-the energy molecule) either with or without oxygen. This lecture will address the science of human metabolism, discuss how the body produces ATP and address program design strategies to emphasize a specific energy pathway in the human body. The workout will feature specific drills for each one of the three primary energy pathways: short term, intermediate and long-term.
