Brain and Healthy Life Choices

This course will be taught by Dr. Terry Eckmann from the Department of Education and Human Performance at Minot State University in North Dakota. This course will cover 8 hours of lecture and activity associated with the growing body of research supporting the mind-body connection, proving that exercise is truly the best medicine to reduce anxiety, help balance challenges of ADHD, decrease negative effects of depression, and help to effectively manage stress. There will be a a review of the anatomy and physiology of the brain to understand how 25 research-based brain boosters from five critical domains (exercise, nutrition, stress management, mental stimulation, and socialization) help to achieve optimal brain functioning. Also, there will be discussion regarding the "Fitness Leader Survival Kit," and how to survive the ups and downs with tools and strategies that can help you make the most of every day.
