Building Physician Partnerships: Ten Tips for Success

Physician referrals can connect patients--potential clients and members--with facilities and fitness professionals in the community. Physicians want to refer their de-conditioned or at-risk patients to professionals as a pathway for the patient to implement an exercise prescription. Physicians will write referrals once they have first-hand knowledge of the standard of care and support a patient receives. There are over 8,000 studies that show physical activity and exercise plays a vital role in the control and prevention of chronic disease. Exercise is medicine. Physicians will prescribe exercise. You can provide the pathway and the appropriate tools to do so. This presentation will provide the tools for success to develop a seamless referral pathway and effectively market to physicians and healthcare providers. Development of the Physician Office Toolkit will also be discussed. A consistent message to the medical community will grow trust in your programs and services. In addition, educating the community-at-large will enhance the dialogue between the provider and the consumer at every office visit.
