This 1 hour practical workshop will equip group fitness instructors with the knowledge and tools to safely and effectively execute a proper pushup for themselves and the students that participate in their fitness classes. This course begins with a brief overview of basic functional anatomy, physiology and kinesiology of the chest and shoulder, as it relates to exercise preparation, functional execution, safety precautions, injury prevention, and exercise modification. Participants will consider extrinsic and intrinsic factors as they relate to muscle endurance, muscle strength, and muscle flexibility. They will also learn how to reduce the risk of injury. Emphasis will be given to monitoring exercise formin a group fitness setting in order to promote physical advancement/improvement in the specified muscle group, and to prevent injury.
