This course will provide an additional certification for the a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200-hrs or more) to create a safe and challenging yoga routine which acclimates students to the surrounding environment as well as to the sport of standup paddleboarding (SUP). We will also touch upon proper sizing of boards and paddles with the practitioner's ability and experience. Teaching yoga on a SUP board varies from a studio in that the modification of poses (asanas), the general flow of class, and the environment are all subject to change. In this program we will focus on these variances. Not only will yoga techniques be discussed, but also tracking weather conditions, tides, and mooring procedures. Certified instructors will be able to attend to the needs of both the everyday yogi's practice as well as elite athletes on their journey in the competitive realm of modern SUP racing. As with any sport, without proper attention, awareness and preparation, injury is prevalent amongst athletes and enthusiasts alike. The application of yoga is ideal for the overall wellness and safety of all paddlers. Additional topics include business practices for private clients, group yoga classes, as well as meditation. Addressing retail and photo merchandising ventures will also be included.
