Deep water fitness classes are a great venue for both highly conditioned participants as well as those new to exercise. However, having a good understanding of the buoyant environment is critical if the workout is to be effective. This session will help water fitness instructors understand the dynamics of deep water, visualize movements, cue proper body positioning, and gain a better understanding of appropriate interval sequences that should be used in deep water. By becoming familiar with the Tabata Method (20/10 interval ratio in 8 round sequences), as well as other proven effective interval ratios and techniques, instructors will learn to select movement patterns in timed ratios that will help participants maintain interest and manipulate intensity in deep water classes.
