The Foot and Ankle CEC will educate participants on the anatomy of the foot and ankle, basic biomechanics of the foot/ankle complex, phases of gait, understanding different forces on the foot during different daily activities and common pathologies affecting the foot and ankle. • The anatomy of the foot and ankle is structurally analogous to wrist and hand. Participants will learn about the anatomy (bones, joints, attached ligaments, muscles and tendons) and the function (stability & mobility) of the foot & ankle. • Gait will be discussed including normal gait parameters, different phases when walking and running, common structural and gait deviations of foot and ankle and overuse injuries. • Common pathologies will be described and participants will learn how to identify the risk and presence of these in their clients. They will also learn when to refer out to physical therapy or other health/medical professionals.
