The workshop will look at the ramifications of placing an athlete in a wheelchair. In many cases the limitations seen in the athlete can be just as much from the chair itself as the condition that required the use chair. You will learn to assess and identify the negative affects prolonged wheelchair use can have on an athlete. You will learn tools to counter those negative affects from a training perspective and maximize an athlete's performance perspective. Learn how to use adaptive equipment and the 8 directions of movement to train a client lacking the initial strength to move properly, maximizing the athlete's training experience. You will learn the importance of neutralizing joints to minimize limitations and maximize function as well as utilizing individual assessment to create unique training programs based on each client's condition and goals.
