New research has identified several components of common green tea that may help reduce damage done by free radicals, and thus have a preventive effect against cardiovascular disease and cancer. While the research is preliminary, the promise of a cheap, common elixir that boosts immune function and fortifies the body in its fight against disease is exciting for all. In this overview article, Carol Brannon summarizes the current state of research on tea, and provides a basis for practitioners to advise clients on dosage, risks and possible benefits. Includes charts, graphs, and a 25 question examination.
