  • Imagine if…

    • There was a simple, systematic approach to exercise programming that was relevant, appropriate, effective and adaptable for ANY client’s unique characteristics.
    • There were customized fitness programs and progressions for ALL individuals for cardiorespiratory, functional, resistance, balance, flexibility and core training.
    • Personal trainers could determine each client’s readiness to change, and then implement effective strategies to promote trust, healthy behaviors and program adherence.
    • Personal training could consistently provide positive and memorable experiences that would drive participation and retention.

Imagine no more. Whether a client is just beginning to exercise after years of sedentary living, or is an elite-level athlete trying to fine tune their performance, the new ACE Integrated Fitness Training® (ACE IFT®) Model from the American Council on Exercise provides an innovative, systematic and comprehensive approach to achieve lasting results. Integrating assessments and programs to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy and behavior change, the model provides the blueprint for personal trainers to design exercise programs that improve posture, movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular endurance and strength for all clients.

This is a great review of the Integrated Fitness Model for people who already have their ACE Cert. If you are looking into getting certified with ACE, then this should be a great overview of how ACE trainers work with their clients. It will show newcomers the fundamental approaches of training as an ACE trainer. I give it a 4 stars because it references the fourth edition and not the fifth edition. I have the fifth edition and the approach is still the same. Once again, this course will giver viewers a broad overview of the IFT model. If you want a more detailed look, you should buy the book and check it out.

This is a good course for refreshing your mind on the ACE IFT model. The content is good, however, I would have welcomed more questions in the quiz at the end.

It's Okay. It's a good reinforcement of material and is good if one hasn't already read all about it in the book. The test has a couple of typos. There is a missing forth answer choice on Question #10 (pretty big error there). There is another typo on Question #3. The word "behavior" is missing its final "r". I might have given this course a higher rating had there not been these errors.
