Can I take the ACE exam if I need special testing accommodations?
Who should I speak to if I need special accomodations?
We require that all exam administrations that require special accommodations be handled directly through the ACE Exam Registration Department. Online registrations cannot be placed when accommodations are needed because we cannot meet special requests and make changes once a registration has been made.
Am I eligible for special accommodations?
There may be several reasons why an exam candidate requires special testing accommodations. Special accommodations may be requested for a candidate with visual, sensory, physical or other learning disabilities that prevent them from taking the examination under standard testing conditions. According to the Americans with Disabilities ACT (ADA), documentation of the disability must be submitted by a professional — physician or psychologist — who is qualified to diagnose the disability.
ACE will also offer accommodations for candidates who have limited English proficiency. If English is not your first language, you may request additional time to take the ACE exam. Documentation, such as a copy of a birth certificate or passport, must be submitted as verification and qualification for additional time.
How do I register?
Your first step should be to send all the necessary documentation with the appropriate registration form to the Exam Registration Department by fax (858-576-6564) or e-mail (email@example.com ). A minimum of 15 days’ notice is required for computer-based testing, and 30 days’ notice for a paper and pencil exams. Confirmation can take up to 72 hours for accommodation requests at a computer-based testing site. Special accommodation documentation and completed registration forms submitted by disabled candidates must include a description of the accommodation(s) being requested. ACE reserves the right to determine if the requested accommodation is reasonable.
