I have been in the health and fitness industry for the past 22 years. I have been interested in mind/body wellness, alternative medicine and human potential development for most of my adult life. As a child, I was a competitive gymnast and graduated third in my class of 190 students. I attended Bucknell University initially with the aspiration of becoming an MD, but found the path to be not a perfect match for me. I became much more interested in disease prevention, psychoneuroimmunology and alternative medicine. Thus I continued as a pre-med. student, but also broadened my scope to include Psychology and German. I graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors degree in Biology, Psychology and German. I subsequently attended Columbia University and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Education with a concentration in Applied Physiology. Since graduating in 1988, I have continued to study and expand my intellectual and experiential knowledge base. 22 years later, I work with individuals and groups doing personal fitness training, group exercise instruction, teaching yoga, doing massage therapy and Thai Yoga Massage, lecturing and writing. I am currently most interested in the work of Dr. Deepak Chopra and hope to do training through the Chopra Center in 2010. I am DeAnne C. Gauya, MS, HFS, CPT, LMT, RYT sole-proprietor of Dancing Star Center for Stress Reduction.
