My introduction to exercise and athletics began with Taekwondo, when I was 9 years old. My martial arts training focused on muscular endurance, aerobic endurance, quickness and agility. I later added strength and power training to my regimen, using complex body weight exercises and external resistance such as free weights and machines. I eventually began studying a second martial art, capoeira, which put an even greater demand on strength, balance, and endurance. More than any other aspect of the martial arts, I found the conditioning element to be the most satisfying. This lead me to consider a career as a personal trainer. I received my American Council on Exercise certification in April 2012 and began my personal training career soon after. My approach to training focuses on the basic movement patterns, often calling upon my martial arts background to come up with unique exercises that are challenging and fun.
