Julie Francella Richards MSc. (Holistic Nutrition), NC, ACE-CPT, FCCA
As a fitness professional, Julie uses a holistic approach to help support health and well-being. She takes the practical needs and biochemical uniqueness of each client into account before developing and recommending individualized exercise protocols and – in the case of nutrition counseling – the selection of whole foods, nutritional supplements, lifestyle adjustments, and environmental modifications.
While growing up in the Caribbean, attending Penn State University and spending almost ten years of her adult life in the UK, physical activity became a constant for Julie, who hopes to enjoy a lifetime of fitness. Her movement experience includes earning a Diploma in African and Caribbean Dance awarded by Birkbeck, University of London (England). She is also a Certified Reebok City Jam Instructor, an official Level II Zumba Fitness Instructor, and a USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach. She has attained Ni Dan (2nd degree black belt) rank in the Isshinryu World Karate Association.
Julie’s continuing education has included courses in improving balance and mobility in older adults; creating safe and effective exercise programs for breast cancer survivors; exercise for knee and hip replacement; pre- and post-natal fitness; dumbbell training; using sports nutrition principles to help active individuals and athletes attain peak performance; overcoming weight-loss resistance; understanding gluten intolerance and preventing celiac disease; and nutritional management for Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
In her spare time Julie is an active member of a running club, plays the piano, and enjoys creating nutritious and delicious meals.
Julie's goal for her healthy adult clients is to provide them with the adequate skills and knowledge to effectively design their own general fitness programs.
