AMERICAN COUNCIL ON EXERCISE’S PRESENCE AT IHRSA 2002 LARGEST EVER

ACE’s All About Fitness Day presents Dr. Kenneth Cooper, the 2002 ACE Fitness Professional of the Year Awards announced; ACE receives IHRSA Wall of Fame Honor

SAN DIEGO–The American Council on Exercise (ACE), America’s Authority on Fitness, today announced its largest presence ever at IHRSA 2002. The 21st Annual International Convention & Trade Show will be held in Phoenix, AZ, March 6-9 at the Phoenix Civic Plaza.

Winners of the ACE 2002 Fitness Professional of the Year Awards will be announced Saturday, March 9. Awards will be presented for Personal Trainer of the Year, Group Fitness Instructor of the Year and Fitness Director of the Year. The ACE Fitness Professional of the Year Awards were created in 1999 to publicly recognize the contribution fitness professionals have made to the fitness industry. ACE honors fitness professionals that have excelled in the areas of client development, training techniques, successful marketing and revenue generation. Each winner receives a $2,500 scholarship toward continuing education in the fitness industry

All About Fitness, an all day track on Saturday, March 9 sponsored by ACE, features Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper M.D. M.P.H., the father of aerobics and founder of the Cooper Aerobics Center who will present “The Role of the Health Care Industry in Addressing America’s Health Care Challenges.” Dr. Cooper, potentially the next U.S. Surgeon General, has been President Bush’s personal physician for the past 12 years. Recognized through his writings and research as the leader in the international physical fitness movement, Dr. Cooper has been credited with motivating more people to exercise in pursuit of good health than any other person.

Following the feature presentation on Saturday, ACE presents a half-day of programming that includes sales and management topics that will benefit all club staff, management and fitness professionals in attendance.

ACE has been chosen as this year’s IHRSA Associate Member Wall of Fame inductee. It is a permanent and ongoing tribute to those associate members whose contributions to the health and fitness industry stand above all others.

ACE will also offer its Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) and Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant Certification Exams in conjunction with IHRSA. CEUs will also be awarded for attending educational sessions at the show.
