I was disappointed with this course. The "book" was full of grammatical errors, and it felt unprofessional. I was already aware of the information presented, and could have passed the test without even reading the text. It just felt very basic, and didn't go as far in depth with science and explanations as I was hoping it would. Granted, in addition to being a personal trainer I have been a prenatal massage therapist for five years, so I may know more than the average fitness professional about pregnancy and what it entails. Still, I was hoping for more. On the upside, the actual exercises in the DVD were fine, and I appreciated that it still felt like a workout. Some prenatal yoga classes restrict so much that it feels more like a guided meditation than an actual moving yoga class. I have just bought the ACE prenatal/postpartum exercise course, and I am hoping this will give me some more of the in depth information on prenatal and postpartum exercise.

This course is a fair introduction for those with no prior knowledge/experience in prenatal exercise/yoga programming. However, it is definitely supplemental to the YogaFit Level 1 training, as it does not include information on or descriptions of all poses that an instructor might include in a prenatal class. Instead, it highlights only poses for which YoagFit believes major modifications are necessary. Also, the course doesn't talk about why many poses are considered unsuitable for a prenatal class. It talks about the biggies like inversions and prone poses, but it indicates that seemingly safe or modifiable sun salutations, Warrior I, and pyramid should be omitted from prenatal classes altogether without explanation. I did like that there was a small post-partum section in this course to give instructors the basic tools to continue working with moms after birth.
