Based on the Youth Strength Training book and ACE's Guide to Youth Strength Training video, this course explores youth-based resistance training as an essential tool in the fight against childhood obesity and its many related health problems. The authors, Avery D. Faigenbaum, Ed.D., and Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D., also provide an overview of youth-specific strength-training guidelines. Finally, six full-body workouts are included, each utilizing a different form of resistance-adult-sized resistance machines, child-sized resistance machines, free weights, body weight, elastic bands, and medicine balls.
The 63-minute video, which features Dr. Westcott, presents an overview of the fundamentals of designing and implementing a safe, effective, and time-efficient youth strength-training program.
