ACE conducts and publishes independent expert reviews on fitness products empowering consumer and fitness enthusiasts to make informed decisions related to their health and safety. Members of ACE’s fitness product review team includes medical doctors, exercise physiologists, exercise scientists, registered dieticians, certified fitness professionals and other industry experts.
Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D.
As Chief Science Officer, Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D., FACSM, represents ACE as a national and international lecturer, writer and expert source. Bryant has written more than 200 articles or columns in fitness trade magazines, as well sports medicine and exercise science journals, and authored, co-authored or edited 30 books. He can often be found as an authoritative resource for fitness and nutrition articles in a variety of respected national outlets including USA Today, Washington Post, The New York Times, Parade, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Reader’s Digest, Consumer Reports, Fox News, and CNN Headline News. Bryant also shares his expertise within the fitness industry as a scientific advisory board member for numerous organizations and publications including the Center for the Study of Sport at Seattle University and Women’s Health, Good Housekeeping, ClubLife and Oxygen magazines.
Natalie Digate Muth
Natalie Digate Muth, MD, MPH, RD, is a registered dietitian and recent graduate of the UNC School of Medicine. She holds certifications from the American Council on Exercise (PT and GFI), the American College of Sports Medicine (H/FI), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS). She has made several appearances as a nutrition expert on CW's San Diego 6, been quoted as a fitness expert in the New York Times and other newspapers, and is an ACE master trainer and award-winning author. She is currently a pediatrics intern at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital.
Christine J. Ekeroth, M.S.H.S. is the editor-in-chief of ACE Certified News, ACE’s monthly magazine for certified fitness professionals. Formerly ACE’s director of publications, she holds a master's degree in international health and has more than 20 years of experience in the health and fitness industry as an instructor, educator and writer.
Jessica is an Exercise Physiologist for the American Council on Exercise and also serves as a media spokesperson. She is an adjunct professor at Miramar College, teaching courses in the Department of Exercise Science, Health and Nutrition. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education teacher education (K-12) from Coastal Carolina University and a master’s degree in physical education from Canisius College, as well as two ACE certifications (Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer); she is also an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT) through Yoga Alliance. Prior to her role at ACE, Matthews was the aquatics director for Conway Medical Wellness and Fitness Center, a hospital-based wellness center. She has also designed curriculum for health and physical education, grades K-12, in accordance with national standards. As an ACE spokesperson and presenter, Matthews has been featured as a fitness expert on CNN and San Diego 6’s “San Diego Living” show.
As an Exercise Physiologist with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Pete creates and delivers fitness education programs to uphold ACE’s mission of enriching quality of life through safe and effective exercise and physical activity. He has a Master’s of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a Certified Personal Trainer with ACE and holds additional certifications and advanced specializations through the NSCA (CSCS), and NASM (CPT, IFS, and PES). Pete has been featured in the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Runner’s World and Self. Outside of his work responsibilities Pete serves on the content review committee for www.ptonthenet.com a website dedicated to educating fitness professionals worldwide.
A 20-year veteran of the fitness industry, Sabrena Merrill, MS, is the creator of BASE™ Training, a balance-based group fitness conditioning class for all levels. Along with personal training and teaching group exercise, Sabrena acts as a spokesperson for ACE and is involved in curriculum development for ACE continuing education programs. Additionally, Sabrena regularly presents lectures and workshops to fitness professionals nationwide.
Beth Shepard, M.S., ACE-PT, ACSM-RCEP, Wellcoaches Certified Wellness Coach is a clinical exercise physiologist, health promotion consultant, and educator with more than 20 years of experience in hospital-based exercise and educational programming, wellness coaching and population health management. She is certified by ACE, ACSM, and Wellcoaches Corporation, a volunteer course reviewer for Desert Southwest Fitness, and works with corporate and individual clients to deliver sustainable health behavior change solutions.
