American Council on Exercise Releases New Tool to Help Aspiring Professionals Choose a Group Fitness Certification

Posted: Monday, January 27, 2014 in ACE Press Releases

Chart Compares Top Accredited Certification Options

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 27, 2014 – Group fitness attracts more than 22.1 million people annually to indoor cycling, boot camps, danced-based classes and a growing number of other modalities. That increasing demand has led many certification organizations to create narrowly focused education programs designed to get instructors on the floor fast.

A new research tool created by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) sorts a wide variety of information about each group fitness certification now on the market into an easy-to-read format for aspiring health and fitness professionals to explore.

“Choosing the right group exercise certification is now easier for people considering a career in that space,” said ACE CEO and President Scott Goudeseune. “Aspiring professionals can get a snapshot view of certification options that hold accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Association (NCCA) and those that don’t. They can also pit their top choices side by side using our interactive comparison tool.”

The Group Fitness Certification Comparison features company and exam information, details about study tools, professional benefits and continuing education information for the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA), the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), and ACE.

The chart also includes insight on commonly asked questions with regard to how the industry’s top two group fitness certifications – the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification and the AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification – stack up.
