This workshop seeks to clear up as many of the misconceptions as possible and to provide instructors with a template for including higher intensity work that will be most effective for the greatest number of participants. An objective of this workshop is for instructors to emerge, not afraid of high intensity training, but with renewed respect for it, so that they can take the approach of elite riders rather than recreational ones (most of us will never be elite riders, but we can still train intelligently). This does not mean that only our “elite” participants will utilize high intensity training (HIT): rather, that higher intensity training has its place in any program. It is our job as instructors to help our students know what that place is.
