By explaining the aging process and its impact on the performance athlete and the health based practical everyday aspects of life this module will enable a greater understanding of the essential training ‘must do’s’ through the decades of life. By being aware of how the body changes, adapts and in some case self limits the coach and athlete can ensure they work with the body’s changing physiology to ensure functional longevity and sporting performance. The specific requirements of the endurance and strength/power athlete will be reviewed with guidance on programming for fitness, performance and well being.
