Yoga for the Cancer Patient

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center, has developed Y.E.S. ™, Yoga and Exercise for Survivors, an evidence-based professional development course for certified yoga instructors. Cancer patients and survivors may have unique needs and specific modifications instructors must take into account. Participants in this online course will gain expertise from clinicians and E-RYT 200 and 500 level yoga instructors who provide yoga therapy in both inpatient and outpatient clinical environments at MSKCC. In addition, participants in Y.E.S. ™ complete a core curriculum in the physiology and biology of cancer, nutrition, infection control and integrative medicine modalities. Yoga for the Cancer Patient will enhance a prospective students own practice, enable them to offer new services in a group or private instruction setting and help them realize the full impact their teaching can have.
