Peer Fitness Trainer Program Continuing Education Seminar

Topic 1: Clinical Exercise Testing Description: The purpose of this presentation is to provide the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) with information regarding Clinical Exercise Testing and how it relates to Physical Fitness. Topic 2: Muscle Activation Description: The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) to how better prepare the body for the demands of work. Topic 3: The Higher Risk Client – (Case Management) Description: The purpose of this presentation is to provide the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) the skills to train a higher risk client. The PFTs will learn exercises and stretches that are safe for severely deconditioned clients. The PFTs will also learn the best practices for training clients high risk medical conditions. Topic 4: Case Studies Description: The purpose of this presentation is to provide the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) an opportunity to apply what they have learned in the course to real life situations. The PFTs will break into groups and will be given a case where they will have to build a program for the client in the case. Every case study will have different client with different conditions and goals. Topic 5: Incorporating High Intensity Training (HITT) and Strength Training and its Efficacy to Fire Service Description: The purpose of this presentation is to provide the Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) with information regarding how to incorporate HITT as well as strength training into their clients Exercise routine. Another purpose of this presentation is to educate the PFT on the basics and benefits of this type of training so that they can educate their clients.
