In the Introduction to Yoga course, students will begin learning the history of yoga, the different types of yoga and will gain an understanding of personal yoga practice. Students will be introduced to different body systems and will learn the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory, muscular, and skeletal systems. Students will also learn the pre-yoga warm-up techniques and will be introduced to Sun Salutations A and B. Meditation, Pranayama and Sanskrit will also be introduced as will the teaching methods for the material they learn. The Anatomy and Physiology focus will be on the body systems with emphasis on the Respiratory system and form and function of the Muscular and Skeletal systems.
