Creatine is one of the most popular and best studied dietary supplements for athletes, with over 500 studies in the scientific literature. However, there is much confusion about creatine among the general public and, often, fitness professionals as well. This interactive module, with graphics, describes the scientific evidence regarding the use of creatine to boost certain types of sports performance, muscle mass, strength, and power. Highlighted within this presentation is information of creatine's mechanisms of action, dosing protocols, and different forms that are available. Personal trainers and other fitness professionals are often the recipients of questions from clients regarding the safety of creatine supplementation and its effects on hydration status. This module addresses these concerns with extensive references to the existing scientific literature.
