The metabolic process of producing muscular energy to fuel physical activity generates a tremendous amount of heat. Metabolic heat from exercise combined with heat from the environment can place too much stress on clients and keep them from being able to reach their fitness goals. The more you understand about how the body responds to exercise the more effective you can be at designing programs that help clients achieve results. In this course, you’ll review physiology of how the body functions to maintain a safe body temperature.

You will learn:

  • To identify physiological mechanisms used by the human body to dissipate elevated heat levels.

  • Four different methods of heat exchange.

  • How the human body adapts to temperature variations.

This course is included in our Sports Conditioning Specialty Certification.
