Special Accommodations for Testing
**UPDATE: The information in this post is no longer accurate as of October 7, 2011.
Some candidates who sit for the ACE exam may need special accommodations for testing. This can include individuals with a learning disability, someone who speaks English as a second language, or someone who requires a reader.
For the traditional paper and pencil certifcation exams, ACE and Castle (our testing agency) are able to accommodate a range of special situations. For the computer based testing, ACE and Castle are only able to accommodate the request for extra time. This is based on the limitations of the third party contracted testing facilities.
So how soon should you let ACE know of your need for a special accommodation? As soon as possible! Talk to Exam Registration prior to registering for your exam. Taking care of any special accommodations prior to registering is much easier, and less stressful, than doing so once you’ve registered.
For the paper and pencil certification exam, special accommodations need to be arranged 60 days prior to the exam date (two months). For the computer based certification exam, special accommodations must be discussed prior to registration. Special accommodations will require you to speak directly with the Exam Registration Department (1-888-825-3636 x783). Exam Reg can help you with the paperwork and information needed for your request.
