ACE Study Coach Program
Help! I don’t know how to start studying. All this material…all this information…what should I do?
When you first get your box of materials in the mail, or maybe dropped off by a friend, you open it up and just stare at what’s inside. Books, manuals, tests, notes, receipt…what are you supposed to do with all of that stuff?
Study it! ACE recommends that exam candidates take 3-6 months to prepare for their exam. The exact amount of time needed will vary based on a candidate’s past knowledge, experience, and free time for studying.
If you’re confused about where to start, Study Coach – a free email based program from ACE – helps give you some direction. The emails come once a week for 12 or 20 weeks, depending on which program you sign up for. Each email contains an overview of the week’s ‘assignment’, information on how that material applies to you, and a bullet list of what you should learn by the end of the week. The chapters to read in the manual and complete in Master the Manual are listed, as well as a link to the Home Study questions for that week (Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor programs only for home study questions). Finally, the emails provide suggestions for when to register for your exam, when to take the online diagnostic test, etc.
But what if you get behind? What if you decide to take two weeks on Chapter 4 instead of one? The emails make it easy. Just save the email in your inbox, and print it out when you are ready to go. Need to start all over? Or cancel your enrollment? Just drop us a note at support@acefitness.org and we’ll take care of it.
How to sign up? Log onto the ACE website, go to Certifications, select your certification, then on the right side of the screen you should see a link for ‘ACE Study Coach’. Click that link and select either the 12 or 20 week program. The first intro email comes right away, and week 1 comes 11 days later. Repeat with a new email each week until your 12 or 20 weeks is up.
