About
I've been in the fitness field for over 25 years. I have two Master's Degrees (one in clinical exercise physiology and one in music), and have attained 22 certifications. I am the author of four fitness textbooks (including Methods of Group Exercise Instruction--used at over 55 universities, and A Guide to Personal Fitness Training--the certification textbook for AFAA) and six videos. I have presented at numerous International conferences on a variety of fitness and wellness topics and regularly provide education for fitness professionals. I am a Senior Adjunct Faculty member at Adelphi University on Long Island. In addition to my teaching, currently train 16 clients per week in Ridgefield, CT, both on Pilates apparatus and in the weightroom. I also teach 3-4 group exercise classes per week, including a mat Pilates class and a healing, gentle yoga class. I specialize in working with clients with special needs, such as those with diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and musculoskeletal issues. I have worked in cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, and as a physical therapy assistant. My clinical knowledge, combined with my yoga and Pilates teaching skills, help make me a very effective trainer for those with health issues or in need of pain management.
