My style focuses on safe and effective strength training for just about everyone. Resistance training burns fat, increases strength so you can do more with your life, and speeds up metabolism so you can stave off weight gain, even after your exercise session ends. Plus, muscles look good! When done correctly, strength training builds confidence and increases muscle tone without sacrificing that feminine physique (if that’s what you’re going for) or taking up too much of your precious time. Round that out with fun and effective cardio and stretching, and together, we’ll develop a whole exercise program that grows with you as your fitness increases. In short, my philosophy is that in fitness, as opposed to the rest of life, we should strive for failure... muscle failure, that is. After all, failure just means you’ve reached your short-term exercise goal! I’ve been teaching moderate-impact cardio classes, including step aerobics, cardio kickboxing, and an innovative, fun class called Punk Rope (www.punkrope.com) for over two years, and I’m interested in more one-on-one, individualized personal training. When I’m not working out or helping others reach their fitness goals, I work as an academic researcher trying to unravel the mysteries of Parkinson’s Disease.
