About
As a nationally certified trainer, it is my honor and quest to devote time, attention and focus to prepare each client to make the most of the valuable time he or she devotes to exercise. I believe exercise can be a positive experience for anyone who can find a setting and approach that inspires or motivates them. My coaching identity comes from my desire to help people experience exercise situations that help to bring the focus on the enjoyment of the activity itself-not just the goal or outcome. I want to connect with each client on some level, to help him or her to focus on the here and now and stay positive, because I know they already have the desire to reach their long term goals. Sometimes I wish I had the intensity of a drill sergeant, but then I remind myself that external motivators will only facilitate my clients' behavior in one type of setting. In order to tap into positive emotional and mental influences on exercise motivation, I prefer to take on the role of an adviser and helper. I will not condemn anyone for their exercise failures. I am ready to continue where we left off, and I am even willing to take a step back or tone it down for the sake of consistency or good form. A positive activity experience has the potential to bring more functional success than a grueling progression of exercises.
