Sofija Zeković-Roth, L.Ac. is the health and fitness expert who has been making Hawaii KITV4’s News This Morning team sweat and laugh every Monday morning since July 2006. She draws from her broad range of expertise in Oriental Medicine, Pilates, Yoga, and personal coaching to motivate and inspire Hawaii’s community. Sofija is internationally recognized Pilates and yoga coach and is Hawaii’s leader in integrative medicine and fitness. She started her career as a rhythmic gymnast and an Olympic-caliber synchronized swimmer in the former Yugoslavia. The civil war in Yugoslavia cut her off from her family and friends while she was completing her senior year as a study abroad high-school student in Kentucky. She put herself through college and earned Summa Cum Laude bachelor degrees in both Chemistry and Biology in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved to Honolulu in 1997 and earned a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine with special emphasis in Acupuncture, Medicinal Herbs and Qi Kung in 2000. Sofija has been coaching group and personal fitness for over 15 years in Europe, the U.S. Mainland, Hawaii, and Asia. She holds active certifications in several fitness styles including A.C.E. and A.F.A.A. personal training, Stott Pilates, and Gyrotonics. Sofija also conducts Pilates and yoga certifying seminars in Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, and on the U.S. Mainland. When Sofija is not on KITV you can find her at Kaimuki Care, physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic or at the adjoining Ki Club Pilates and Fitness Studio, where she practices her unique blend of integrative and sports medicine, corrective and performance enhancing fitness. Sofija is also a founding member of Mind & Body Works, an integrative medical group that treats the linguistic, interpersonal and movement difficulties of children, teenagers and young adults with high functioning Autistic disorder, Asperger’s disorder, Pervasive Developmental disorder and socially awkward youth of gifted intelligence.
