About
Jeff grew up playing several sports, but baseball was his primary focus. Throughout his college years, while earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, he ran baseball summer camps and winter clinics for kids, with a specific emphasis on fitness and conditioning. In 2002, Jeff followed his passion for health and fitness by becoming a Personal Training Director for a national fitness and nutrition solutions company. He won the company's "Commitment to Excellence" award that year. Jeff became an ACE certified personal trainer in 2005 and grew fascinated with exercise as it relates to posture and its effect on the human body. He found that most resistance training programs concentrated too heavily on building "mirror muscles" such as the chest and front of shoulders. These are muscles in the front of the body that are seen in the mirror and that get worked throughout the day during any forward motion such as driving, eating, and using the computer. As a result, these muscles tend to become overworked, short, and tight while opposing postural muscles in the mid-back and back-of-shoulders areas tend to become underworked, overstretched, and weak. This creates a muscle imbalance that contributes to poor posture and often leads to injury and pain usually in the back, shoulders, and neck. In order to counteract this muscle imbalance, improve posture, and help avoid injury and pain, “mirror muscles” should be stretched more often and postural muscles should be strengthened more often. Ultimately, this will lead to less physical dysfunction and greater overall health. Jeff kept studying and training while completing numerous continuing education courses on posture analysis and post rehab. He became an expert at assessing posture, detecting muscle imbalances, and developing exercise programs to correct these muscle imbalances and stabilize the body - specifically the core musculature and the spinal column.
