In this Episode of 15 Minutes to Wellness, Dr. Michael Mantell chats with Linda Shelton, certified trainer, speaker and health writer. Linda shares advice for new trainers in the fitness industry and discusses her career path from gym teacher to celebrity trainer. They discuss how new professionals in the fitness industry should be prepared to adopt a wellness philosophy in helping the overall physical health and wellbeing of a client, not simply the look of their body.


About Linda Shelton

Inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame in March 2007, Linda Shelton is an internationally recognized fitness and wellness consultant, certified trainer, speaker and health writer. A former P.E. and dance teacher and aerobic studio owner, Shelton has a master's in exercise physiology. Currently, she is president of three companies: Professional Fitness Services, LIFESTYLEscapes and SOULjourn. Formerly, Shelton was Fitness Director for all Weider/AMI women's fitness publications, including SHAPE Magazine, for 23 years. She's directed and/or choreographed over 750 fitness DVDs, co-produced four award-winning television fitness shows and authored eight books including Shape Magazine's Ultimate Body Book (2006) and Slim For Life (2013) with Jillian Michaels.

In the '80s, Linda was a founding member of the Aerobic and Fitness Association (AFAA), co-authoring the Exercise Standards and Guidelines and Primary Certification examination.
