In this first session of a two-part podcast, special guest Dr. David Katz joins Dr. Mantell to discuss children, junk food and changes needed for a healthier generation. Dr. Katz is the founding director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, a leader in nutrition, chronic disease prevention and health promotion.


About David Katz

David L. Katz MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP, is the founding director of Yale University's Prevention Research Center and is a recognized thought leader in nutrition, chronic disease prevention/health promotion, weight management, and integrative medicine. He holds degrees from Dartmouth, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Yale University School of Public Health.

Dr. Katz is the editor-in-chief of the journal Childhood Obesity, president-elect of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, founder and president of the Turn the Tide Foundation, and medical director for the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT.

Dr. Katz has been extensively involved in medical education. He was a founding director of one of the nation’s first combined residency training programs in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine (Griffin Hospital); and served as Director of Medical Studies in Public Health at the Yale University School of Medicine for a span of 8 years. He was named one of the 25 most influential people in the lives of children by Children’s Health Magazine, and in 2012 he was cited by Greatist.com as number 19 of the 100 most influential people in Health and Fitness.
