In this episode of 15 Minutes to Wellness, Dr. Mantell is joined by James Prochaska, PhD, professor of psychology, author and director of the Cancer Prevention Research Center at University of Rhode Island to discuss how to successfully maintain lifestyle change.


About James Prochaska

James O. Prochaska, PhD, serves as director of the Cancer Prevention Research Center at the University of Rhode Island, where he is also a professor of clinical and health psychology. Prochaska has written more than 350 publications, including three books, Changing for Good, Systems of Psychotherapy and The Transtheoretical Approach. Internationally recognized for his work as a developer of the stage model of behavior change, he is the principal investigator on a $70 million research project focused on the prevention of cancer and other chronic diseases. Prochaska is the founder of Pro-Change Behavior Systems, and he has won numerous awards including the Top Five Most Cited Authors in Psychology from the American Psychology Society and an Innovator’s Award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He is also the first psychologist to win a Medal of Honor for Clinical Research from the American Cancer Society.
