C.J. Senter is not your ordinary popular workout guru. Yes, he has defined six-pack abs, his own workout DVDs, website, Facebook fan page, and YouTube channel, but he's only 10 years old.
Known as the "The Workout Kid," C.J., from Locust Grove, Ga., began working out five years ago for a peewee football tournament, and hasn't stopped since. Now, he's on a mission to get kids across the country on the same workout kick.
In an interview with ABC's Nightline, C.J. said kids should sweat more and have fun learning new exercises.
When C.J. enters a room, elementary school students cheer as though a celebrity has entered the room, but some wonder whether kids should be striving for his buff physique and in the process, possibly overdo it.
In the same Nightline interview, one doctor said that he's seeing more overuse injuries in eight- and nine-year-old kids. More kids are also body-conscious.
With one-third of children being overweight or obese today, childhood obesity is inarguably an epidemic that must be fought, but what's the balance between getting children to move and preventing them from growing overly body-conscious and injuring themselves?
