First lady Michelle Obama marked the one-year anniversary of Joining Forces on Wednesday. In an event at the White House, Mrs. Obama hailed the support she and Dr. Biden received when they called upon the country to support military and its families — only one percent of the population.
"Not a single person that we've talked to, that we have approached, has told us that they could not help -- not a single person," Obama said. "We've asked; they said yes."
The first lady even mentioned how people have gone beyond the minimum by doing more than initially planned.
"We'll present something, and [people] double it. They want to do even more. They just keep figuring out how to get more and more people involved," she said.
