American Council on Exercise (ACE) Hosts Fitness Professional Forum in New York City
Leading Fitness Experts Discussed Latest Industry Trends, Topics and Issues

Posted: October 6, 2004 in ACE Press Releases

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oct. 12, 2004 – The American Council on Exercise (ACE), America’s non-profit fitness advocate, is pleased to announce another successful ACE Fitness Professional Forum. Over 100 ACE-certified fitness professionals attended the second ACE Fitness Professional Forum October 8, 2004 at the IDEA Personal Trainer Summit in New York City. The attendance more than doubled the first Forum in San Diego in July 2004.

The Forum featured a panel of three fitness experts who discussed the latest industry trends and issues as well as responded to feedback from ACE-certified professionals attending the event.

  • Ken Germano, ACE president, spoke about inactivity and childhood obesity as well as the importance of educating the general public about certification and risks of working with an unqualified trainer.
  • Dr. Cedric Bryant, ACE chief exercise physiologist, discussed the heavily debated topic of nutritional supplements and scope of practice for the fitness professional recommending supplements.
  • Fabio Comana, manager of exam certification and development for ACE, shared information on the hottest new trend toward functional training - a program designed to help improve one’s ability to perform everyday activities with greater efficiency.
Those who attended the Forum were entered in a drawing to win a duffle bag compliments of SPRI Products, a leading distributor of rubber resistance-exercise products and fitness accessories.

A five year dream in the making, this is the second of many more ACE Fitness Professional Forums to come.
