How Does the Program Work?
The AARP® Fitness Program is only available to ACE professionals who enrolled prior to Nov. 1, 2012. Due to our evolving relationship with AARP, we have collectively decided to no longer offer the program.
Professionals who enrolled before that date will have their membership extended until that date at no additional cost. Until that time, their profile will be visible to AARP members searching for ACE-certified fitness professionals. They will not, however, receive the 0.2 ACE continuing education ecredits that were originally included with program membership.
Other features of the program include:
- Participation by all ACE-certified professionals
- Flexibility to set your own rates
- Ability to offer one-on-one training, semi-private or small group training, group fitness and yoga classes
- Extended profile accessible via the ACE and AARP web sites
When publishing your training rates, know that you will need to provide a 20% discount to AARP members. Additionally, you must provide a special offer of either one free initial consultation or one free group fitness class. This provides a great marketing opportunity to help attract new customers and it allows AARP members to get familiar with your services and what to expect.
How is the Program Marketed?
The AARP® Fitness and Wellness Program is promoted to AARP members through a variety of public relations efforts and print and online advertising. AARP members can access information about the program on AARP's website as well as through the ACE Get Fit site. Your online profile will be visible to AARP members nationwide who can locate and contact you through a zip code search, highlighting your affiliation with AARP as an approved fitness professional. A full-color flyer is available to print and distribute to help you promote your services and your affiliation with the AARP program. In addition, ACE provides convenient online client management tools that allow you to easily track correspondence, prospect-to-client conversions and training sessions.
